Hmm, that's a lot of info... I'd say you're missing several devel rpms.
By the way, I found RedHat's 2.4.18 kernel slow when playing DVDs.
Setting 'hdparm' made a big difference.
hdparm -d1 -a8 -u1 /dev/cdrom
