IIUC what you mean the issues you complained about should be fixed,
anyway I'm no more so sure that supporting external vidix is a good idea:
support for my radeon seems to be broken (sooner I must have used an older
driver without realizing) and the same could apply for other cards, but 
I can't test.
On the other side support for internal vidix should be unaffected and 
this patch
should be overall safe and helpful (at least for other - more lucky - 
users).
