FWIW: I like B-frames. My laptop is not really capable of full 24fps in 
D1 resolution, which makes playing high resolution movies with just P 
frames very skippy. The player has to skip long segments to the next 
I-frame to catch up.
With interleaved B-frames the player can drop exactly the frames it 
can't manage to decode and playback is smoooth and audio never drifts.

I don't think that's the reason B-frames were invented, but it's a nice 
feature. Go B-frames! :)
