The sample files I have are all about 4GB.  I will find a problematic
clip of a more reasonable size and post it on the web, but it may take
a day or two.

Would it be reasonable for me simply to compile MPlayer against the
same liba52 as is used in 'a52dec'?  Or would the interfaces be likely
to be incompatible?
