Looks to me like you don't have the right codecs. I used to mess around  
with DV files. You're going to want to install libdv, then make sure  
mplayer detects it. That should do the trick. But I warn you: MPlayer  
doesn't make a good DV player. Like many players, it gets overloaded  
very quickly.
