mencoder ... 2>&1 | grep [insert regex that matches the lines you want to see]
Also try -quiet and -really-quiet

Look up the help on the "bmovl" filter.

Look at the date on that.. I think you should be using a modern
version, i.e. latest cvs. With that, DVD encoding is much easier and
faster than on windows.
