[MPlayer-users] NTSC : 24 or 23.976 fps ? NOVIRUS

Hi
I would like to have some information regarding the region 1 DVDs. NTSC has
a 29.97fps frame rate and has to be converted to be shown at correct
speed.What speed should it be ? 24 or 23.976fps to be perfectly synchronised
with audio ? I searched on Google but was lost in the links, showing
interesting technical data about telecine pulldown, but not a clear answer
in practice.
As a European, I don't have a lot of region 1 DVD to test too.

Could you please answer this or indicate me a good appropriate link ?
