Hi,
because there are some repeating questions about -vo directfb I'll try to
summarize them and also I'll try give some hints.
At first I'd like to suggest to all users to use latest MPlayer and DirectFB
- preferably from CVS. Some issues from previous versions are already fixed!
If You seek for more DOCS there are mailing lists focused on directfb
located at www.directfb.org.
Small FAQ:
Q1: Are there any command line switches for -vo directfb not listed in man
page?
A: YES - vo directfb command line help (can be shown by -vo directfb:help):
Example: mplayer -vo
directfb:layer=1:buffermode=single
Options (use 'no' prefix to disable):
input Use DirectFB for keyboard input
Other options:
layer=n
n=0..xx Use layer with id n for output
(0=primary)
buffermode=(single|double|triple)
single Use single buffering
double Use double buffering
triple Use triple buffering
fieldparity=(top|bottom)
top Top field first
bottom Bottom field first
Note: Most of the switches are same as for -vo dfbmga
Q3: I'm getting tearing or flashing of movie or subtitles
A: Did You try to set double or triple buffering (-vo directfb
buffermode=double|triple)?
Did You try to use -double switch of mplayer?
Q4: I'm getting sound, but on screen only progress bar is shown.
A: Should be fixed in CVS (and latest pre version).
In older versions try to use -dr switch. This usually solves the problem.
And also improves performance.
Q5: I'm getting black borders around movie and I'd like to use them for
subtitles
A: Read mplayer documentation with focus on -vop expand option.
Q6: Somethink else wrong....
A: As a starting point try to run example & test programs coming with
directfb library.
This will check basic operations of directfb on your hardware. In cause
of troubles
there is directfb-users mailing list (look at www.directfb.org).
If test programs work OK and mplayer still does not work is a right
time to read
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/en/bugreports.html
and follow instructions here.
