Just my bit... After I have read this thread I decided to try all my older xvid
videos I created. 13 are 100% playable under windows, 3 are not. But when
I recoded them again, now all of them work (and fortunately quality isn't much 
worse, bitrate was high enough)

So thank you for warning, because I want my videos playable everywhere if possible

(and I will use lavc codecs only in future, just to be sure)
