It won't help you, but I only started with mplayer last week, and thus
with 1.0pre3, and with CVS mplayer plugin.
I'd more or less come to the conclusion that with Mozilla 1.4.1 - no way
am I updating to 1.5 - that I have to tell mplayer not to support
RealPlayer streams and have Mozilla call RealPlayer9 as a helper app for
BBC stuff. The latter works beautifully - far better quality than for
example Windows Media Player streams from a Windows-minded site such as
the Norwegian state radio site NRK - even using WMP in Windows XP and
IE6. All I care about, is that I can get RealPlayer streams out of
Mozilla.
The CVS plugin - dated May last - says that it depends on mplayer for
RealPlayer support, and you say that mplayer 1.0pre doesn't work, so ...
