[MPlayer-users] "Cannot generate tables"

A dialog box pops up with this error whenever I start mplayer or try to 
play anything on a fresh, from-scratch install of mplayer using the 
latest (1.0pre3) RPM's from 
http://ftp.icm.edu.pl/pub/linux/mplayer-rpms/mplayer.html

The RPM's installed fine (no errors) and I've never had mplayer on this 
machine before (Mandrake 8.2 with some updates).

Checked FAQ's....no mention.

Any ideas?
