MPlayer does not cleanly support files larger than 2GB. I didn't know
for certain whether or not this happened with anything other than AVI
files, where the problem is a lack of OpenDML support, but if certain
assumptions were made in the right parts of the code it's entirely
possible that the problem would be universal.
It is, indeed, a common problem, brought up on this list at least every
few months - but unfortunately as far as I know there's little to be
done about it.
