Hello everybody,
I am
1. recording DVB streams from sat using mencoder -ovc copy,
2. then recode it to a smaller bitrate and deinterlace it (-vop
lavcdeint) in a second step and
3. watch it with mplayer (both 1.0pre3 at the moment, but my problems
exists since 0.90rc5).
I have been looking for the following problem for a long time: When
watching the movies everything seems perferct. But slow horizontal
movements are jerky. Especially when the camara is turning from one side
to another. About every second, the picture seems to freeze or even move
back a bit - not more than one or two frames. I can see this in almost
every recording I have.
A always searched for a playback problem, but is seems to be in the
recorded file. I tried many switches to fix it. Now it seems -skip in
mencoder solves the problem. But I don't understand it quite. And I am
not sure, if this really is the right method.
Maybe this problem does have something todo with the 24fps vs. 25 fps
problem.
Thank you for your answers and thank you to everyone who helped to
create mplayer - it's great.
Dirk
