SuSE's gcc is known to trigger a bug in mp3lib somewhere (or maybe the
other way around) so that decoding is distorted.
Could you download
http://www.ocremix.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR00626
And check
mplayer Terranigma_Crysta_Dreams_OC_ReMix.mp3 -ao pcm -nowaveheader -aofile /dev/fd/3 3>&1 >&2 | md5sum
I get 1e2ec0a464f528ab9ef30ba182589d2c (with gcc (GCC) 3.3.2 (Debian) as
well as with gcc 2.95.4 (Debian)).
The md5sum of the mp3 should be be60471ad8064e7be4217a6327dd3370.
If I decode it with madplay, mpg123 and mp3lib and make diffs (after
correcting the file offsets with audacity), I get interesting results.
The diff of madplay and mpg123 ist mostly static but with some high
frequency blips. The diff of madplay and mp3lib contains recognizable
parts of the music.
