[MPlayer-users] Strange lines in the video output

I encode from a DVD a video scaled from 718x576 to 1024x576 to avoid distortion (people was very tall!), but when I play that video with mplayer there are some strange lines in the right area of the screen, while other players (like xine) work perfectly.
Do you know why and if mplayer has any option to avoid that?
