[MPlayer-users] mencoder often COMPLETLY locks up my machine

Hello.

Often (w/ about 1/3 probability) mencoder completly locks up my machine
while encoding a vcd (directly from cd or from an mplayer-ripped file
doesen't matter).
I can't find a logical reason... Many other are using it, apparently
whithout troubles.
It shouldn't be able to hang like this, since it's not suid root...

The command I'm using is:
mencoder -vcd 2 -ovc divx4 -divx4opts br=500 -o file.avi
or:
mencoder track2.vcd -ovc divx4 -divx4opts br=500 -o file.avi

Any hint ? The REALLY same command might work or crash, unpredictably.

For Arpi: can't follow bugreports.html:
1) last bugreport I sent still awaits moderator approval
2) once locked, I have NO way of recovering the machine, except booting

So, since I know these info are not enough, what can I do to give more
useful ones ?
