Try the latest (stable) blackbox release instead.  I used fluxbox for a while,
but went back to blackbox a few weeks ago when I noticed version 0.62 appeared,
because it fixes lots of annoying bugs that were present in fluxbox (which is
still based on 0.61).  Even if you really don't want to go back to blackbox,
start it up once and see if the mplayer problem disappears, as it could help to
find which program the bug is in.
