Yes, i thought about it long time ago, and in the beginning
(about a year ago), i tried to give every time a kind reply,
but after writing more and more mails i got tired and started
to write short RTFb mails and got harsh too :-(

You are perfectly welcome to join the user support team.
At the moment there are just a few people doing it:
Some developers: they dont have much time to do it as they are busy coding,
Gabu: He had a lot of time once... no it's rare to see a mail from him
me: Also not too much of time as i have exams very soon.
a few users: Yes, there are some users writing answers, not much,
not always 100% correct, but they exist
As you see, that's not a lot for that many users.

Oh, that's easy: read the files in DOCS/tech ;-)
And there is nothing that beats the RTFS, especialy
with a fast moving project like mplayer (docs are
sometimes outdated a week after they have been written)

Yes, and where is the problem ? I dont have the time to explain
everyone how to set up Xv or how to install the windows dlls.
So i expect that the ppl do a bit of RTFM or at least a grep
over DOCS/.

Really ? If you would read -dev-eng or -cvs-log the image would change.
It's just that not everything a developer does get's into a mail
send to -users afterwards. Also a lot of communication is going
over irc (both on user and developer channel).
BTW: for those who dont know it yet, there is a #mplayer channel on OPN
and yes, we could need some help answering questions there (most of them
are very low level, so anybody who did RTFM could answer them)

You know, communication is the biggest problem of the world :)

Heh... you havent seen the list a half a year ago..
it's gotten really quiet here :)
