[MPlayer-users] [PATCH] Getting Rage128 cards to work with xvidix again. :))

It has been asked quite some times (one of them from me), but it seems
it's not an elite enought question for those gods (aka developers) to
answer.
And, since the one who wrote radeon_vid.c is no longer helping with
it... I guessed this was not going to ever work again unless someone
else fixed it. (for example: me)
Latest working revision of radeon_vid.c is 1.36. 1.37 draws a nice pink
screen. And some revisions later it doesn't even show a window. So I
started looking at the differences between 1.36 and 1.37, making some
testing/debuging... and, accidentaly, I got a way to get the latest
revision of radeon_vid.c working for Rage128 cards. (at least for my card)
The fact is that, discarding the modifications done from 1.36 to 1.37,
it works perfectly. Looking at the cvs log to see if those modification
were important I see...
- Shutdown capturing before playback
:-m I never thought about starting mplayer while capturing video.
- More correct waiting for vsync
vsync is something worked on quite a lot on newer revisions. Revision
1.39 is probably the one getting vsync working properly.
So, for those with Rage128 based cards, this patch will likely solve the
pink window/no window hang. I cannot know if this breaks something for
radeons. I don't think it does, but it'd be nice if people with diferent
ati cards tryed the patch and reported if it works or not. If it seems
to work for everyone maybe it could be included in mplayer. If not...
maybe we can do a proper patch.
BTW: this patch is to be applied to revision 1.46 (latest one, for now)
and what it does is to remove the changes introduced in revision 1.37.
All posterior modifications are kept. (definitely 1.46 is faaaaaaaaster
than 1.36 (when it works };) ))
now... let's read that patches.html or something so that the gods don't
get mad at me... :-m
> Subject line should be: '[PATCH] very short description of the patch'.
Allright... adding [PATCH] to the subject line...
> In the mail, describe in a few sentences what (and why) are the
> changes.
Sorry. I'm not going to rewrite the whole message just to keep those
dawn elitist arrogants happy. Take it if you want it. If not... I don't
think I'm going to have much trouble reaplying the patch to newer
versions of this file, since there will be no such versions, it seems.
