it allocates at the end of video memory, and it overlaps with X unless you
reduce memory size in X config file. so the above hing does work, maybe 7000
is still too lot, to calc the needed memory:
(max_width+32)*max_height*6
now substract this value from total memory, and write the result into X
config
for DVD playback, it's 2.6MB, so for 8MB card you should limit X memory to 5400
