I'd hate to have to boot Windows..  luckily I didn't have to.
It plays fine using a different video output mode (default for me is 
xv).  Plays pefectly for me using -vo dga and ffodivx codec.

I should have thought of this in the first place.. sorry for wasting 
your time.. again.

     Is the maximum xv image size (720x576 for me) a limit of the 
hardware or my XF86 setup?  The i810 chipset I have uses RAM for 
video memory so I can specify how much XF86 should use, but xvinfo 
always says the max size is 720x576.  Oh well, it doesn't much matter 
to me since most video clips aren't that big.
