[MPlayer-users] How to check why mplayer freezes the system ?

Hi,
i have compiled the CVS from 04.12.2002 with the newest CVS version of 
ffmpeg.

When i play a video (SVCD bin file) and seek forwards and backwords it 
sometimes happends that my system (SuSE Linux 8.1 on AMD Athlon 1200MHz, 
512 MB, VIA KT133 chipset) is freezing. Only a hardwarereset helps.

How can i find out why this happends ?
