I agree with Rich, I find the pass=1 and pass=2 for two passes
encoding is evidently perfect, and the pass=1, pass=3 ... pass=3 for
N-passes encode is simple enough. Anoyone not able to do pass=1 for
the first and pass=3 for all the others has not read the man and can
not be able to do good encodes (how is someone who is not able to
understant such a simple thing supposed to understand much more
complicates parameters of the encode?).
If you want a simple way of doing this for the people to not
misunderstand, simple leave pass=1 and pass=2 as is, and change the
"3" for "n" in order to do a "pass=n" for N-pass encodings (but using
the LETTER n). Mmm, it seems even more complicated, people would start
to try pass=3, pass=4...
The man is absolutely clear:
vpass=<1-3>
Activates internal two (or three) pass mode, only specify if you wish
to use two (or three) pass en- coding.
1
first pass (also see turbo)
2
second pass
3
Nth pass (second and third passes of three pass encoding)
please don't change it only for people who are not able of reading the manual...
