in case it still matters i think its
mplayer smb://user:pass@workgroup/hostname/sharename/filename
or mplayer smb://hostname/sharename/filename or something
and for disabling the huge debug messages in mplayer output put
debuglevel = 0 in ~/.smb/smb.conf
that can be disabled through mplayer itself too tho i think only if we
use that smbclient context which we dont.
