The docs say:

Is that a bit over-simplistic and ignoring the case of using vsync? I
presume the feature mentioned is something to do with querying the
card's latency and that even if it is supported, MPlayer's problem is
that it usually uses it by adjusting the video frame rate, which it
can't do with vsync?

My sound card is a very cheap one, based on a CrystalMedia chip. Apart
from this problem it works very well. I've got onboard sound too, which I
haven't been using because it's too quiet, but I suppose it's worth a
try with the volnorm filter or something.
