I applied the patch and was able to successfully play all of the following streams:

Normal RTSP, not Real.

In order to play non-Real RTSP you need to open your firewall for both
incoming and outgoing UDP, at least some ports. Once I did that I could
play the streams I mentioned, but your URL crashed my MPlayer when it
was trying to load ubvmp4d.dll. Try it to see if you have better luck.

So I vote for Roberto's patch, it solves the whole autodetection issue.
