no.
media player is something more interactive. it would mean (in my
understanding) support for things like dvd menus, flash, any kind of
playable media file, like cd, audio, video, text, TV, dunnowhat...

yes, i know that mplayer already plays these, more or less, but
the support for non-video stuff is very poor and code is buggy/unfinished.
