This is definitely 25fps content encoded with each frame marked as
Interlaced. Detecting this will require image heuristics (oh so sad, if
only all DVDs would use the flags correctly), or you can put in a flag
when the user is smarter than the DVD.
Sorry, I don't know about mplayer enough to know what you should do,
but I can confirm at least that much.
