Hi arpi i have just seen a small program at freshmeat.net 
(http://freshmeat.net/redir/xvattr/19550/url_tgz/xvattr-1.1.tgz) that 
allows on the fly change of brightness/saturation/color key of XV 
surfaces and i thought it would be great to have the functionality 
integrated in mplayer so anyway that's the link, its a small .c file.
