it depends on codec. for new pp code (opendivx, libavcodec):
  0xX00YZ
X: deinterlacing modes, can be 0..7 ?
Y, Z: postproc flags for colors,luminance
  1, 2  h/v deblock
  4     dering
  8     auto brightness/contrast correction

> -fps units is a float (?), a list of useful values maybe (23.998... etc)
especially for mencoder's -ofps

> Are the numbers/lists for -afm -vfm -ac and -vc up to date ?
-afm/-vfm should be removed soon. very obsolete (but still work)
-ac/-vc doc should be changed:  use -ac/-vc help for list
